On completion of this chapter, the learner will be able to: 1. Compare approaches to management of cholelithiasis. 2. Use the nursing process as a framework for care of patients with cholelithiasis and those undergoing laparoscopic or open cholecystectomy. 3. Differentiate between acute and chronic pancreatitis. 4. Use the nursing process as a framework for care of patients with acute pancreatitis. 5. Describe the nutritional and metabolic effects of surgical treatment of tumors of the pancreas.
